Oued Souss

The oued Souss takes birth in the High Atlas mountains at an altitude of 1230 his route through the mountains of the High Atlas and the plain of the Souss, before discharge into the Atlantic ocean to the South of Agadir.
The main tributaries of the oued Souss, include: oued Issen, Wadi Ouziwa, Wadi Immerguen, Wadi Arghene.
The oued Souss is the largest Wadi of the hydraulic basin, its length reaches 190 km.



The mouth of the oued Souss is the northern boundary of the Park, 10 Km South of the city of Agadir. Its biological richness, its diverse vegetation, and its sedentary and migratory birds make a site recognized internationally and classified site RAMSAR, since January 2005. This site is a haven for thousands of birds; he unfortunately suffered a high pressure due to its proximity to the urban area.

 

Oued Massa

The oued Massa is located in the rural municipality of Massa and the centre of the "Souss-Massa-Drâa" region.
Approximately 60 km south of Agadir, turn right at the round point towards Sidi R' beats the tourist village. Cross the village and turn right at the crossing. This road turns into Sandy track leading to the door of the reserve and car park. The oued Massa is part of the Souss-Massa National Park. It will therefore protect this important stopover between tropical Africa and Europe. Today, it has particularly supports the protection of the last viable population of bald ibis of the world.

Upstream of the wilderness, where the water is soft, spread the irrigated Massa, gardens on the slopes of the Valley of the Oued, of many douars (villages) are installed. In the gardens there is a feverish rural activity. One goes and just donkeys loaded of alfalfa, corn or beans, run between many hollow paths using irrigation canals during the flood of parcels.

 

Ifni Lake

Lake of Ifni is the province of Taroudant in the Souss-Massa-Drâa region.
Most large mountain lake of the Morocco and one of the highest, Ifni Lake is 65 metres deep and it extends over 35 hectares. Lying in a Valley, surrounded by the peaks of Jbel Toubkal, the Ouanoukrim and the dome of Ifni, the Lake of Ifni has almost no fauna and flora. There is the blue algae, which gives the Lake its emerald green color. Natural lake, the Lake of Ifni is especially used for the tourism and fishing. The temperature of surface water undergoes strong Diel and seasonal variations. Ifni Lake has a semi-arid Mediterranean climate.
