Both highlighters and cushion foundation are all the rage at the moment, aren't they? If you love both, this is good news because Estée Lauder has decided to launch a new product: the Double Wear Highlighting Cushion Sticks!
In this post, I will also show you a fragrance I've received not long ago and that I've been enjoying in the last past weeks, this Michael Kors Wonderlust Essence.
Estée Lauder Double Wear Highlighting Cushion Sticks
Let's start with the Estée Lauder Double Wear Highlighting Cushion Sticks!
Maybe you're already familiar with Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick, which is a dewy foundation in the same format. I wasn't a huge fan of it at first because I broke the cushion when I wanted to wash it but I've started using it again and I'm looooving the sheer-to-medium and dewy finish. I've used this foundation all summer because it's so lightweight, natural and it leaves a super healthy glow. Definitely a great foundation in my opinion except I'm not a huge fan of the format. Now that I broke the sponge, I take some product out of the tube and apply dots on my face and blend with a separate sponge. By the way, breaking the sponge was very silly of me. I tried to remove the sponge but what you have to do is simply to twist the gold ring at the top to remove the sponge unit super easily. Super easy in fact!
The Double Wear Highlighting Cushion Sticks are liquid highlighters made super easy to use thanks to the cushion (sponge). Basically with these sticks, you have both the product and the applicator all in one. There are also super travel-friendly.
According to Estée Lauder, they are sheer but buildable, have an oil-free formula that hydrates and lasts 8 hours without touchups.
To use them, pull off the cap, slowly twist the base of the stick until the first drop appears. If too much highlighter is released, you can twist the base back and the product will go back in the tube.
To apply the highlighter, gently tap onto tops of cheeks, nose and Cupid’s bow, buff and blend using circular motions.
Here I applied them quite heavily. If you use the cushion applicator, the product will be more diffused and soft. |
It is also possible to remove the sponge in order to wash it. Just twist the gold ring at the top to remove entire sponge unit and then wash it with soap and water. Now I understand why I broke the sponge of the cushion foundation stick, I tried to remove just the sponge instead of twisting the gold ring....this sounds super silly of me....!! I've tried to remove and wash the sponges of the highlighters and it was super easy!
I think these are perfect if you want a subtle glow without glitters (the peach shade actually has teeny-tiny glitters that show up only when the highlighter wears off, the pink color hasen't). They don't emphasize skin texture, dry patches or pores and they give a very polished and smooth glowy look. They are not the blinding kind of highlighters being more on the sheer side but you can also easily build them up. They provide a really elegant and pretty glossy sheen on the skin and to be honest I think that's the best kind of highlighters for an everyday look. You won't look like a disco ball but they add a very beautiful glow to the skin instead. I've used the rose highlighter almost everyday since I got it :D
Available in 3 colors:

Michael Kors Wonderlust Essence
I have to say I LOVE the design, colors and campaign for this fragrance!
This is an interpretation of the original wonderlust fragrance that is inspired by the exhilaration of new adventures. This oriental woody fragrance opens with fruity florals for a refreshing scent. Juicy nashi pear and luscious black cherry draw you in as peony petals ignite with sparkles of pink pepper.
Classification: oriental woody.
Top notes: nashi pear, black cherry, peony, pink pepper.
Mid notes: jasmine, orange.
Dry notes: cashmere wood, suede, amber
The scent that comes to me first is the nashi pear and then the woody scent but I think the pear is quite persistent throughout the mid and end notes. To my nose this is a great fall shade although it was released for summer, that's probably because of the woody notes that I think it works great for fall. Anyway, this is a really nice fragrance that is worth giving a try!
What do you think of the liquid highlighters? or would you like to try the stick bronzer? Let me know :D
