Former President of Nigeria, General Olusegun Obasanjo has left the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) stating that he was no longer interested in being a member of the party.
Obasanjo has been openly criticising the government of President Goodluck Jonathan a member of PDP. This has not gone down well with stalwarts and aides of the President who have taken to releasing press statements criticising and abusing Obasanjo.
Obasanjo is said to have torn his membership card.
However, two hours after Obasanjo announced his exit from PDP, the Ogun state chapter of the party announced Obasanjo's expulsion from the party stating that he did not follow procedure while leaving the party.
Obasanjo has not declared his intention to join any other party but says he will continue to work as a statesman.
It will be recalled that Obasanjo is alleged to have endorsed the candidature of General Mohammadu Buhari of APC party.
