Review: Bourjois Twist Up The Volume mascara

 Hey Beauties!

So..my beloved L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes has become a bit old and I thought I need to get me a new mascara. Since I was bombarded with Bourjois Twist Up The Volume advertisement, I thought I'd give it a try. I loved Bourjois Max Volume mascara and I loved that one as much as L'Oreal, so I had certain hopes for this mascara.

I got it in a non waterproof version, because I don't think I need waterproof mascaras, since they don't tend to smudge a lot. I also hate cleaning waterproof formulas, since my eyes get all tired and just abused. It's in color 21 Black and I didn't see any other colors available.

The packaging is plastic and it has this shape of a long gown? Sort of :) It's black with white details. The top twists and changes between different wands. Now, at first I was sure that there were two wands in the mascara... I think Bourjois already had mascara that also had two or three wands, depending on how much volume you wanted. I didn't have that one, but I believe it had different wands in one?! Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, I though there would be two-wrong. It's one wand and when you twist the top, that same wand shrinks and the hairs on wand twist in a circular direction, which means the hairs are closer together. That gives a bigger volume, since it gets better between all the lashes. If you twist back, the hairs become sparser and spread in a straight line. The wand also becomes shorter when it twists.

I like the volume side better (2), because I think it coats each lash and it gives more volume. The length side (1) seems to make them long, but also clumpy. I also think the wand is a big too big in my opinion. It's long, but what bothers me is that it is very thick and it's harder to get in the little parts, like inside corner of the eye. The wand is of course one of those plastic, silicone ones, which I prefer.

The thing I really hate is the fact that there is way to much product on the wand. I don't know if that gets better with time, because I only have it for about a week. I wipe almost everything off the wand into a paper tissue, like I do with all of the mascaras in the beginning. However, even that doesn't help. A lot of product gets in between the hairs.

This is with both wands the volume and length side.

I find the formula pretty watery. The first ingredient on the list is actually water. I don't think that's a problem, unless you have really long and curled lashes, that way mascara can transfer on the lid. The mascara seems to hold my curl a lot better than some of the previous mascaras, which is a big surprise. If I put on a lot of mascara, I get some fallout after some time. I also think the ingredients list is a lot "cleaner" then some of the mascaras I owned before, which is always a nice thing.

Conclusion: I like the effect it gives to my lashes. It makes them thicker, longer and it adds volume. I think my lashes look like doll lashes and I love it. I like that it holds the curl. Don't like the bug wand and the fact that it holds way too much product.

Have you or would you buy this mascara? Do you like the effect it gives?
