LONDON FASHION WEEK: Ashish AW16

 At last!

London Fashion Week is off to a colourful bang with Ashish.
I love his catwalks because they are always an array of madness and colour which is a welcome break after the serious tones of New York Fashion Week. Inspired by a box of crayons, the simple colorful designs hold much more serious design then you initally realise. There are over 50 types of fringing hidden in there.

I know its hard to focus on insane details like fringing when there is a giant colorful afro coming down the catwalk and sequins blaring but once you dig a little deeper, the substance is there. Although, I have to admit on first glance, the clothes blurred and all I saw was the huge hair.

The 80s were again a reference for this collection. I'm delighted to see a huge shift away from the 70s. Although, I'm about to watch Peter Pilotto and I'm afraid he's borrowing influences from Fargo a bit too much for me. I am delighted a designer is working with color too. I think I've been in Italy too long where the women wear such dark clothes during the winter. I am delighted to see happy clothing.
TRENDS TO NOTE:

Afro
Sequins
Color
Jewel tones
Oversized coats
80s
