Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do" - Song Review

English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding is primarily known for her soft and tranquil vocal performances, has achieved two well-deserved chart hits in the US with "Lights" and "Burn", and consistently teams up with producer Calvin Harris and contributes commendable efforts to film soundtracks.

While Goulding continues to prep her highly anticipated third studio album, set for release later this year, the talented blonde has found the time to record the sultry "Love Me Like You Do" off the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack... and it's a real winner.

Produced by go-to pop heavyweight Max Martin, and penned by the rebellious Tove Lo, the new "Love Me Like You Do" is a beautifully conceived track which highlights what Goulding desires from her lover in the bedroom. A little bit of naughty and nice never hurt anyone, right? It's the intriguing mix of uplifting supporting production and seductive lyrical content that make the new release an instant, memorable offering.

The song does start off slow, building up until the chorus roll around. But that's really just the beginning. "I'll let you set the pace, cuz I'm not thinking straight, my head's spinning around, I can't see clear no more," she gorgeously sings before the final "what are you waiting for?" becomes the crowing moment of the sure-to-be future hit.

"Love Me Like You Do" is the perfect song that Goulding could have recorded. While it does sound similar to a few of her past releases, the songwriting of Tove Lo really allows the "Anything Could Happen" singer to step out of her comfort zone. It is a great, soaring pop number, but also a solid addition to the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. It really nailed down the loving, S&M nature of the upcoming film.
